Flip- The new pizzeria in town

My first encounter with Flip was a year back, when, in one of the weekend hats outside Select City Walk, there was a charity fair, and 2-3 people (a couple and their helper I think) we selling some really economical stuff..pasta i think..not sure, but all I remember was that at the price I paid, it tasted SO good, that I actually took their card..(something I rarely do), and learnt that they had started operations in Gurgaon. Since then I had it in my mind to go there again, whenever i was in Gurgaon.

Turned out they have expanded exponentially within an year itself! After all, talent and taste are quick to get visibility, when due πŸ™‚

So I was pleasantly surprised to see Flip Pizzeria open up in DLF Promenade food court , and instantly ordered a pizza, even though my tummy was quite full already.

Well my complain with the Dominos and Pizza Huts of the world is that if you order a veggie pizza, where exactly are the veggies!!?? Like barely 2 small slices of capsicium , 2 of onion, 2 of tomato, and that’s your so called ‘veggie burst’ pizza. Flip charged INR 180 (without tax) for a 7″ pizza and 300 for the larger size (12′), and man it was loaded! Capsicum+sweetcorn+onions+mushrooms+sun dried tomatoes(on request for no charge!)

I was so tempted to eat the pizza, I couldn’t take a click..gobbled it up in a matter of minutes 😦 But I took a pic of their pizza box instead! πŸ˜‰ Since it was quite interesting.

Another thing I particularly liked was that the guy at the counter was very sweet and courteous (a rarity these days! )

Must try! Especially for the price you pay, you cant get anything better..at least not in Promenade Mall!

Weekend Shopping for Accessories- Hairbands

Given that the sales season is off, and fresh stocks are in at most stores, today I went accessory shopping! Β From hairbands to earrings…

I had already checked out a zillion street side vendors selling hairbands..Its best if you want to buy a plain simple hairband from them. I particularly like the plain velvet ones, some in very pretty colours like baby pink. But I wanted something more on my hairband. And when I say something more, I DID NOT want the big flowers and bling bling, which you will find not only at the street vendor shops, but even in some ‘sophisticated’ showrooms.

I started with Accessorize in Ambience Mall, Vasant Kunj, and I simply LOVED a few of their hairbands..but man they were pricey! Now they did not let me take a click so I went to their website, and this is one I particularly liked..simple and very adorable! BUT two things- it was available ONLY in a set of two (why would you need 2 of a kind??) and it cost quite a bit INR 945 for 2 hairbands…

So I checked a few more shops, but one I particularly enjoyed shopping at was Claire’s in Promenade, VK. Now they do have some quirky OTT stuff, and I did not expect much when I entered the shop. The typical, oversized flowers ( i mean whoever wears that! do they even sell??)

The typical stuff you get everywhere..oversized flowers..

The typical stuff you get everywhere..over-sized flowers/ too much bling..

And then I found JUST what I was looking for..ever since I had seen Kareena wear it in Ek Main aur Ek Tu! (yes, that was probably the only thing worthwhile in that movie πŸ˜‰

Yes, that’s the hairband that even I own now! πŸ™‚

I think it is super chick, and not OTT. And for INR 300 I think it was not a bad buy. Coming back to Claire’s, another thing I just could not resist trying (though I know I will never buy it, lest I go for a polo match) was this quirky hat style hairband.quirkyhat

Now ain’t that hairband cute?!! πŸ™‚

The world seems like a happier place when..(Day 4)

So I finally managed to convince my ‘pleasantly plump’ husband, to hit the gym. He agreed, but on one condition- That I was supposed to gym with him! I..whos been eating like crazy ever since I remember , in hopes of GAINING weight (yes, I LOVE my mum and dad for their genes πŸ™‚ )

Had I started writing this post on 1st Jan, I would DEFINITELY have written about my story of 4 years of convincing him to hit the gym FINALLY culminating! And that surely would be my LONGEST post ever! But that was on 1st Jan..his new year resolution. What I write today is about a sweet and caring this he did while IN the gym.

So since I tend to lose weight super easily, I gym for only 30 min (ya I know..seems like a dream for many.. πŸ˜‰ ) He on the other hand is required to gym for 2 hours. So recently I reach the gym late, so I don’t have to wait for him to finish gyming in the end.

Now we both have separate entry cards without which you are forbidden to enter the gym. And since I have these nice hot slacks that I wear to my gym, which OBVIOUSLY Β don’t have pockets, I enter and put my card in his pockets, so I don’t lose it. And yes EVER SINGLE DAY I forget to collect it back from him after gym.

As a result, the other day I had to unlock his locker, open his gym back, and fumble for a good 5-7min, before I found the keys. No I did not complain..I knew the fault was mine..I just COMMENTED.. a passing comment : ‘Man! Did I take some time looking for my card in your bag today!’ Thats it! This is ALL I said.

The sweetheart that he is, this is what I saw when I opened the locker the next day (after AGAIN forgetting to take my entry card from him)

Yes, he strategically arranged the bag in a way so that as soon as I opened the bag, I saw my card!

The gym entry card..thoughtfully placed so I could see it as soon as I opened the locker!

Β I know its a small thing..but not small enough to make me feel happy..As they say- ‘Little things matter much’! ❀ ❀

The world seems like a happier place when… (Day 3)

Ok, so I LOVE animals..(part of the reason I am vegetarian), and seeing all the cruelty in the world against innocent animals, makes me want to do my bit, to negate the meanness in this world. So I help a local NGO, known as Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) , in Noida.

Yesterday we had organized the first ever ‘Volunteers Funday Sunday’. When I look at animal shelters in the developed countries of the world, I am super impressed with the state of art surgical equipment, the hygiene, the cleanliness..but in a developing country like India, where the injured animals are 10 times in number, and the funds are 1/10th, Β its quite a different story. Only those who have no jobs (mostly illiterate people) work here. Its hard to find people with knowledge AND who have genuine compassion for animals to work at any shelter, the few ones that do..my respect to them! Since in a place wherein you save EVERY penny, to be able to accommodate one more needy animal, Β the salaries are meager. Β  Then again, we do not kill animals that come to a shelter..EVER..so the number only keeps growing…..

Given that with SO many animals, there are often cases wherein the trauma and injury of the animal are neglected, we decided to get together on sundays, and spend time on EACH and EVERY animal, to ensure they were brushed, deticked etc. And among tears of seeing some animals, victims of abysmal cruelty by so called ‘human beings’ I came across a fascinating story, with a super happy ending.

A bitch lost all her pups and was super depressed. So she was trying her luck with this one particularly frail puppy, trying to adopt her, But the puppy..WASN’T INTERESTED!

A bitch who lost all her pups, frantically trying to woo the heart of this little mother less pup..who clearly wasnt interested..

A bitch who lost all her pups, frantically trying to woo the heart of this little mother less pup..who clearly wasn’t interested..

So what the bitch started doing was that she would pick this motherless pup up as soon as h ventured far away from her, near the company of us humans. This went on for about half hour, till the pup got so frustrated that he started howling at the top of his voice..He wanted to play with us, like we were playing with the rest of the puppies.

What happened next was UNBELIEVABLE. The bitch, realizing that the puppy was getting bothered by her, left her next to us, and starting crying..yes, we could hear her moan, and cry..she went through to each puppy in the park, and rejected one after another, each time looking back at this one pup in the picture above, who was busy playing with us, until….one little weakling came out of the puppy pen and tried to suckle onto her..and woah! there she was, with a brand new pup..she licked him, and pampered him and took the pup with her, to her comfy bed..

And GUESS WHAT HAPPENED NEXT.. the pup who was rejecting her earlier, clearly jealous now that the bitch had adopted a new pup, went running back after her!!

The pup, now looking for for the bitch who he had earlier rejected..!

The pup, now looking for for the bitch who he had earlier rejected..!

And what do you think, did she take this motherless pup back??? Ofcourse she did!! πŸ™‚ And that is what made me SOOOOO happy! πŸ™‚

The world seems like a happier place when…(Day 2)

After a year of my wedding, I finally tracked down what colour I was wearing on my lips, for which I had got quite a many compliments Β ( :$ ). My wedding was a super rushed up affair, with one function in the morning, one in the afternoon, consequently making me super late for the parlour, and hence the main wedding ceremony which was to take place in the evening.. Hence I did not even have enough time to look in the mirror and notice that I was wearing a really pretty lip colour . I look quite weird in most shades of lipstick..so it was super important for me to track down which lipstick it was, and now I am finally the proud owner of it.

P.S. The shade was ‘Chilli’ by Mac.

And whats more, I am wearing that to office right now, and counting my fourth compliment!! Yayyyyyy! Β πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Me, the bride..wearing Chilli! :)
